The Crain’s Insider (by subscription only, so no link) reports longshot Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jonathan Tasini “was fighting for survival yesterday at the state Board of Elections” due to minor problems with his petitions that supposedly needed to be fixed by the end of the day.

The deadline for fixing the problems - the omission of a list that demonstrates Tasini met the requirement of collecting at least 100 signatures from 15 of the state’s 29 congressional districts - is actually Thursday, according to state Board of Elections spokesman Lee Daghlian.

On Monday, July 17, 2006, at Fox News headquarters in New York
City, Rupert Murdoch hosted a fundraiser breakfast for Hillary Clinton. Then he rushed off to a fundraiser lunch for John McCain, and Hillary rushed off to announce her unqualified support for Israel's and Bush's war policies.

Hillarupert Murdoclinton strikes some people as an unusual combination. I'm sure someone could create a funny cartoon out of that name and a merger of their two smirking masks.

Tasini has refused to give up the fight against the most famous woman in American politics and leading contender among potential 2008 Democratic presidential contenders. WATCH YOUR LEFT, HILLARY
By KENNETH LOVETT
New York Post

July 14, 2006 -- ALBANY - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is now facing an all but certain Democratic primary from a poorly

funded anti-war candidate who yesterday blamed her for the death of thousands of American soldiers and Iraqis.

“More than 2,500 American men and women will never come home to their families ever again because of Hillary Clinton’s vote for this illegal and immoral war,” said Jonathan Tasini, the former president of the National Writers Union, as he filed the required signatures to secure a place on the September ballot.

Clinton Faulted on Response to Marriage Ruling

Nuanced stand by two New York senators in sharp relief to that of most local Dems

BY MICHAEL LIPKIN

Gay City News

After the State Court of Appeals’ ruling last Thursday affirming state law that defines marriage as between a man and a woman, prominent state and city politicians, some quickly, others more reluctantly, offered their reactions, ranging from approval to vehement criticism—to blandly neutral talking points, in the case of New York’s two U.S. senators.
