Senator Clinton gets a free ride (or two) from Lockheed Martin

Submitted by Anna Mumford on June 22, 2006 - 10:38am.

An article from this week’s New York Magazine found that Senator Clinton has accepted free rides on private Lockheed Martin jets at least five times in the last five years. Clinton sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee which recently gave Lockheed Martin a $1.7 billion defense contract to build presidential helicopters in upstate New York. Additionally, last year, Lockheed’s PAC gave the maximum allowable donation of $5,000 to Clinton.

Is a Senator who accepts donations and gifts from the world's largest defense contractor the person we want representing us on the Armed Services Committee in Congress?

Rally against Bush at US Merchant Marine Commencement

Submitted by Anna Mumford on June 20, 2006 - 2:19pm.

The campaign was greeted with enthusiasm and, with help from some of our Long Island volunteers, we were able to gather hundreds of petition signatures to get Jonathan on the ballot.

We encourage you to contact us if you’d like to invite Jonathan to an event that you know about or are helping to organize.

(Mr. de Blasio managed Mrs. Clinton’s 2000 Senate campaign before running for a Council seat.) But in a public rebuff, the group, the Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats, instead endorsed Jonathan Tasini, the antiwar activist who is in the process of collecting the signatures he needs to enter the Democratic primary against Mrs. Clinton.
