A Failure of Leadership

Submitted by Adam Koch on March 2, 2006 - 10:40am.

Our event coordinator Brian Fairbanks writes:

In light of newly-released footage from an August 28th emergency meeting, it's now more obvious than ever that George W. Bush let Hurricane Katrina crush the Gulf Coast when he could have made moves to stop it. It will now be harder than ever for Republicans to stop an ever-burgeoning public outcry for Bush's impeachment. 53% of Americans say Bush should be impeached if he "did not tell the truth about his reasons for going to war with Iraq" and 52% support impeachment if Bush wiretapped American citizens without a judge's approval. Tonight, at New York's Town Hall, Harper's magazine will host a discussion of this poll and the possibility for impeachment proceedings.

A Challenge From The Left?

Submitted by Adam Koch on March 1, 2006 - 2:18pm.

Monday night Jonathan gave the keynote speech before a meeting of members of the Progressive Democrats of America. Jonathan's remarks were wildly received, especially his observation that while some will try to portray his campaign as an attack from the left our positions truly reflect the values of a majority of New Yorkers.

Indeed, with a new Times poll showing that 63% of Americans say the Iraq war has not been worth the cost, the question must again be asked which candidate represents the values of the majority; the candidate calling for immediate withdrawal of troops or the candidate who continues to call for us to increase our presence in the region?

Real Immigration Reform

Submitted by Adam Koch on February 27, 2006 - 12:26pm.

This afternoon, a bi-partisan group of local and national politicians, including, Representative Charles Rangel, Representative Jerrold Nadler, and Senator John McCain will be attending a town hall rally in Manhattan for real immigration reform. Our campaign believes that we must always remember that we are a nation of immigrants and that immigrants should participate fully in society, and supports the two major principles developed by the Drum Major Institute; that immigration policy should bolster the contribution that immigrants make to our economy and that it must strengthen the rights of immigrants in the workplace.
