I support Tasini 100% too. I rejoined MoveOn today and am waiting for my ballot. I wrote to them because I want to make sure I get it, but I got an automated reply. I do hope I get it.

We need politicians courageous enough to stand up for the working class. I will be voting for Tasini.

I have been a long-time MoveOn member and therefore was troubled by MoveOn's failure to poll New York Dems or support Jonathan Tasini in any way. I wrote to them repeatedly about this and about Clinton's corruption of the electoral process by refusing to debate. Finally, with apparently no movement on MoveOn's part, I went to the end of their site and unsubscribed. In unsubscribing one gets the opportunity oftentimes to speak one's mind, and I did. Now, they have decided to poll New Yorkers who are MoveOn members. I have resubscribed and will wait for my ballot from MoveOn. But I'm wondering how many people out there did the same thing and unsubscribed in order to finally be heard by the MoveOn leadership? Troubling.

I, too, unsubscribed, Kenneth, for that very reason, and I also let MoveOn know why I was unsubscribing. I also wrote an email to their help desk and even filled out the tech support form expressing dismay at their silence on the Clinton/Tasini issue, and never got a reply from them. Of course, I didn't get a ballot. I'll be anxious to know if those who resubscribed in order to vote in this poll eventually got ballots in their inboxes in time to vote.

While waiting for MoveOn's ballot to arrive, you can vote on the following Tasini for NY Senate items on MoveOn.org's Action Forum Site:

The vote for Tasini is (presently) number 38, on the page with questions 36-40 out of 57647. There are several other NY senatorial questions on the way of you have the time to peruse them.

I know we've been in touch a lot this week, but we need your help making one more important decision. Who should MoveOn endorse in New York's U.S. Senate race?

Decisions about MoveOn endorsements are made by a direct vote of MoveOn members in the district or state. Voting for the MoveOn endorsement for U.S. Senate in New York starts now and is underway until 11:00 AM tomorrow, September 1.

The more people who participate, the better the decision will be—so please take a moment to vote now by clicking here:

It's too soon yet to know how Tasini will do in MoveOn's poll, but I wanted to address the strategy of unsubscribing or dropping one's MoveOn's membership because of its sluggishness to take up this poll. I agree that a few "unsubscribers" probably got their attention, but now, if they didn't get the poll invitation, they won't be able to help Tasini win that poll.

I'm a MoveOn member, and I think they do great work. All organizations that I support aren't 100% in agreement with me, including MoveOn, and I've been dissapointed by them in the past and have disagreed with them in the past--but not so much that they've become anathema to me. I've remained a part of the organization in order to influence it and help steer its progressive activities. Let's be prudent--MoveOn is not evil, it's not the Republican party, nor is it even the Democratic Leadership Council--it's a solidly progressive organization whose bedrock priniciple is listening to its members.

Let's not forget recent history: MoveOn was created during the Clinton impeachment drama; it's name comes from the idea that Clinton should have been censured, not impeached, so that the country could end the media circus and "move on" to more pressing issues. So it's only natural that the group might have a subconscious reluctance to open pandora's box with regards to Sen. Clinton.

Look, we're trying to take back the Democratic Party, right? So maybe we need to "take back" other groups too. So MoveOn took a long time to poll, so what? In the end, they did the right thing because WE made them do it. This is political activism at its finest! Congratulations Tasini supporters!

I feel strongly that cutting ties to one's political allies should only be done in the most extreme of cases, after careful deliberation. I consider MoveOn a political ally that needed persuading. I deem Jonathan Tasini's views to be worth fighting for, and I'm glad I worked within that group's framework in order to accomplish that goal. I succeeded. We succeeded. Now, tons of MoveOn members who may not have heard of Tasini will have heard of him. Even if he doesn't win the poll, groundwork will have been laid for next time. We may not win this round, but we'll definitely lose if we take our marbles and go home.

What I fail to understand is how 56% of the voting members of a progressive group could vote for a woman who has proven herself NOT to be progressive. I just don't get it!

Move On doesn't want to count all the Votes !!!!!!

Move On sent me an Email Thursday August 31st at 11:47 am.

Today, I check my email (Friday Afternoon), September 1st and only find out about the online vote 4 hours after voting ended.

So I got less than 24 hours notice technically.

Uhmmmm, this is Baloney!

For the record, I emailed Move On last week stating I was very dissapointed of their lack of coverage of Tasini, and now, they run an online ballot with less than 24 hours notice!

Pathetic, there are probably so many more who would have voted in favor of a Tasini vs Hillary debate but their votes won't be counted!!!

Pissed off but not suprised in New York,
Greg
