...Tasini's appearance in Westchester came just hours after Clinton met with Lamont at her Chappaqua home. [Clinton advisor Howard] Wolfson said the meeting went well and that Clinton offered to help Lamont raise money for the race. The war in Iraq, he added, was not discussed.

Guess she won't discuss the war with anyone. Click here to watch a CBS clip of Clinton avoiding the question of whether she'll debate Tasini.

Press Release: Sixty-Four Percent of NY Dems Would Support Anti-War Candidate, Says Marist Poll

Submitted by Anna Mumford on August 24, 2006 - 11:37am.

New York, NY – Marist released a poll yesterday which found that only ten percent of Democrats in New York say they will vote for a pro-war candidate whereas 64 percent (up from 62 percent from the last Marist poll in July) say they would vote an anti-war candidate.

“Once again I stand where the majority of Democratic voters stand on the issue of the war in Iraq,” said Tasini. ”Why is Hillary Clinton unwilling to have an open debate on the war? This is the issue that is central on voters' minds and she is showing a lack of respect for the voters and for democracy by refusing to engage in a debate."

Press Release: Tasini Receives Endorsement from Citizens for Universal Healthcare

Submitted by Anna Mumford on August 24, 2006 - 11:36am.

NEW YORK, NY - Citizens for Universal Healthcare (CUH) announced today that it endorses Jonathan Tasini's U.S. Senatorial candidacy in the September 12th New York State Democratic primary. For over a decade Citizens for Universal Healthcare has worked for legislative reform to bring about a single payer health care system.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement from CUH,” said Tasini. “Hillary Clinton has never stood for single payer health care. Now that she is pocketing tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the drug and insurance industry, we can be sure that the incumbent will protect the very industries that are ripping off average Americans."
