More From The Democratic Rural Conference

Jonathan's surprising showing in the straw poll at this past Saturday's Democratic Rural Conference continues to gain coverage in the media. Yesterday, Michael Rothfield of Newsday wrote:

"It may not bode well for Suozzi that Jonathan Tasini, an almost completely unknown challenger to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, fared better than Suozzi did in the straw poll."

And later:

"Tasini, a union organizer, drew the loudest applause of the morning by calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. He was critical of Clinton's vote to authorize the Iraq war.

"The people who supported the war must be held accountable," Tasini said."

Jonathan's vote total was also noted in in the New York Times and in a story carried by the Associate Press. Both the better than expected vote total and entusiastic response to his speech are further proof that the views of our campaign represent the views of most New Yorkers and we vow to continue to pound our beliefs on the war and impeachment everywhere we go.
